Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

BJJ Benton, Bryant, AR

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was made famous by the Gracie family and the UFC. Brought to the united states around 1993, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has become the choice martial art for self defense because people couldn’t help but tune in to watch Royce Gracie, this seemingly “skinny and unathletic” guy take out guys who should, by all appearances, destroy him. Time and time again people tuned in and watched as the Gracie family proved that it’s not size that matters, but technique and leverage. That philosophy, that a smaller and weaker person can beat a larger attacker using technique and leverage (not size and strength), is the foundation of this amazing art: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu . Revolution’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program is bringing this highly effective art to Benton, Bryant, Little Rock, Hot Springs and all of Central Arkansas.

Just listen to what these people are saying about Revolution MMA’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Program:

“For me, Revolution Mixed Martial Arts is the best school to train MMA in Arkansas. At Revolution, they have a big structured program, teachers that are real fighters and still competing, and they have knowledge in jiu-jitsu, wrestling and kickboxing. In addition they have multiple locations where I can train, with classes for all levels from beginner to advanced. Whenever I am in the US, I always go train at Revolution.”

~Marcelo “Pato” Pereira 6-2 Professional MMA BJJ Black Belt 3x World Jiu Jitsu Champion 3X Brazilian National Jiu Jitsu Champion

“The instructors at Revolution are the best at what they do. Whether your goal is to lose weight, get in shape, or go to a competition, Jory and Abby can help you achieve your goals and show you how to be the best you can be.

I have known Jory for many years, but it wasn’t until after my first deployment to Iraq that I was able to start training under him. In that time I have redeployed, and I keep coming back to train at Revolution. The classes are just what I needed to stay in shape for my job, and staying in shape helps me keep myself and others I’m responsible for safe.

After a time of inconsistent training, I stepped into the gym in August of 2009, and I decided to become more serious. I began devoting all of my free time to training, and I traveled with Jory and Abby to seminars and training camps. I set a goal to compete at the World Championships. Thanks to Jory and Abby and my teammates at Revolution, in 2010 I was able to compete in 5 different tournaments across the United States, bringing home 3 gold medals including one at the World Championships, 4 Silver medals and a bronze medal. I owe all my success to the instructors at Revolution MMA and their teaching methodologies. Not only did I win competitions, but I accomplished so much more. After years of trying different ways to work out and try to get into shape, I was still 300 lbs when I came to Revolution in August. Here I am a year later and I am down 50 lbs. They helped me get on a plan to lose weight and get in shape and learn to change my entire lifestyle for the better. Thanks to the classes and instructors I was able to get in shape and have fun doing it.”

“My family and I moved from North East Arkansas to Texarkana, Texas in 2010, leaving many friends, family AND my training partners behind. While searching for a place to train, I came across Revolution MMA in Benton. So, I made the nearly 2 hour drive and went to class at Revolution. Although it is still not “close” to home, I felt the training being provided was top notch and most importantly I found somewhere I felt comfortable. From that point on I have been a member of Revolution MMA. I have lost over 20lbs since I began training with Jory & Abby and have received Silver Medals in both the IBJJF Invitationals in Dallas and Houston in 2011. I have had the opportunity to train with other high level BJJ practitioners and Nova Uniao Black belts to include 7x World Champion Robson Moura and Nova Uniao Co-Founder Mestre Wendel Alexander, among others. There is nowhere else around where you will have these opportunities on a regular basis. The Malone’s have working relationships and affiliations with a voluminous amount of high level BJJ practitioners from all of the world and these are benefits and opportunities you as a student will never get elsewhere. Not only has the Revolution Academy become my team and family, but I have seen first hand how the team extends throughout the world with Nova Uniao teammates everywhere. Some academies have catchy team/family slogans, but this team lives it out every day! Don’t sign-up to train anywhere else until you have at least tried a few classes with Jory & Abby. If you are just looking to lose weight, get in better shape or be a competitor, the choice will be clear once you walk through the door of Revolution Mixed Martial Arts.”

“At sixteen years old, every girl has a concern for her weight. In today’s times it is not just about being skinny, it’s about being fit. I, Angel Way am just as concerned about being in shape physically as I am about being able to protect myself. As a TaeKwon-do student for eight years, ranking as a second degree black belt, I have a background in self-defense. As of January 2011, I could have protected myself through a “stand up” self defense scenario, but if it had been taken to the ground, as most self defense situations are, I would have struggled to keep my protection level strong. In TaeKwon-do, I always enjoyed going to Jiu Jitsu seminars because they were exciting to me. Growing older and beginning to move towards college, Jiu Jitsu has become more about protection rather than fun. I started jiu jitsu two months ago. Since I began taking classes, I have lost more than ten pounds, have toned my arms, began building abs, and have built up my endurance. Even in this short time with Revolution, I am confident in my ability to protect myself from common submissions and positions, and have the ability to skillfully fight back. In each class, I feel as though I walk away knowing something new or extending my prior knowledge. During class our instructors and fellow students work hard to not only better themselves, but to better each other. Jiu Jitsu class is a wonderful experience for me. It pushes my physical fitness to new levels, and gives me something to look forward to at the end of my day.”

You see, these people, they are just like you. Our students have accomplished some amazing things : From the Dad who decided to get back in shape, to the professional who needed to get some real world self defense knowledge, to the guy who wanted to test himself in the competition arena and travel the world…. they are all realizing their dreams and becoming better people through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training…and you could be next. But you might still be skeptical: You might be afraid. By now I’ve given you a lot of benefits of Revolution’s program, but I owe it to tell you what you won’t get from this program:

        • You wont get punched in the face

        • You wont be training with a bunch of kids
        • No one is going to treat you like fresh meat
        • You wont be met with a bunch of egotistical no-shirt-wearing 20 year old thugs
        • You wont be cast to the side because you dont want to be a “fighter”
        • You wont be the only guy who just started working out again
        • You wont be training on dirty mats in a dirty facility
        • No out of shape instructors who can’t do the moves
        • You wont have to learn a bunch of hard fancy moves that aren’t effective
